Issue
The backup command -amdump failed with error message similar to the following
"/etc/amanda/Daily/amanda.conf", line 271: dump type parameter expected
Solution
Eventhough the dumptype definition is correctly defined, it is necessary to have all the references in the correct order. Any dumptype that refers to another dumptype definition should have all references defined before it. For example: user-tar-span dumptype definition references root-tar definition and root-tar definition references global definition. So the order of the dumptype definition in amanda.conf must be:
global
root-tar
user-tar-span
