Check what the current permissions are on the /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts file:

ls -al /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts

The solution is change the permission of the /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts file on the client host:

chmod 600 /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts
