Zmanda Cloud Backup 2.0 is the next major release of Zmanda Cloud Backup product.  This is the beta 1 release of the Zmanda Cloud Backup 2.0 software.

Compatibility with Zmanda Cloud Backup 1.0.2

  • Zmanda Cloud Backup 2.0 is compatible with 1.0.2 release. Customers can upgrade to new release by running setup.exe that is part of the 2.0 software zip file.
  • Customers must preserve the configuration data during upgrade process if they want configuration and backup images to be restored using 2.0 software. The Backup set Backup What, Where and When configuration, Monitor and Reports information are preserved.
  • All backups created using ZCB 1.0.2 can be restored using ZCB 2.0 software except for encrypted backups (see next point).
  • There are two important caveats:
    • All backup sets created using 1.0.2 software must be saved after upgrade to 2.0. This step must be done before backup or restores can be performed using ZCB 2.0 software.
    • ZCB 2.0 uses different encryption mechanism (certificate based encryption). Customers with 1.0.2 encrypted backups cannot be restored with 2.0 software. Do NOT upgrade if these backups in Backup folder or Amazon S3 will have to be restored.

Installation/Upgrade procedure

  1. Download the Zmanda Cloud Backup 2.0 software from Zmanda Network (Zmanda Network credentials are required).
  2. Extract the zip file and run setup.exe
  3. If you are running previous version of ZCB, you will prompted about preserving old configuration. Please answer Yes if you would like to use the backup set configuration, reports and restore from old backups.
  4. The Zmanda Cloud Backup documentation is available in the ZCB UI (Help>Getting Started, Help>FAQ).
  5. Amazon S3 certificate required for S3 backups and restoration is not bundled as part of the software. It is also available in Zmanda Network. Download the file to the ZCB machine and Import the file into the configuration using ZCB UI (Cloud>Import Cloud Certificate).
