  1. 1. Upgrading ZMC and Backup Server from 4.1.0.106 to 4.1.2.8        1.    Set Auto label to “Only if empty or I/O error” on Backup Where page (Applicable only for Tape backup sets)        2.    Uninstall the 4.1.0.106 Backup Server and ZMC binaries on both RPM and Debian based systems using the         commands,  #/opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-backup-pkg/uninstall # /opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-zmc-pkg/uninstall        3.    Copy 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries on to respective servers and give executable permissions.  #chmod +x zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run #chmod +x zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run        4.    Install the 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries by running them with superuser permissions.   #./zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run #./zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run  Note:         1.    Before uninstalling 4.1.0.106, it is mandatory to update auto label option to “Only if empty or I/O error” for all        the Tape backup sets.        2.    It is mandatory to upgrade both Backup Server and ZMC.

Upgrading ZMC and Backup Server from 4.1.0.18 to 4.1.2.8        1.    Set Auto label to “Only if empty or I/O error” on Backup Where page (Applicable only for Tape backup sets)        2.    Uninstall the 4.1.0.18 Backup Server and ZMC binaries on both RPM and Debian based systems using the         commands,  #/opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-backup-pkg/uninstall # /opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-zmc-pkg/uninstall        3.    Copy 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries on to respective servers and give executable permissions.  #chmod +x zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run #chmod +x zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run        4.    Install the 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries by running them with superuser permissions.   #./zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run #./zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run  Note:         1.    Before uninstalling 4.1.0.18, it is mandatory to update auto label option to “Only if empty or I/O error” for all        the Tape backup sets.        2.    It is mandatory to upgrade both Backup Server and ZMC.    Upgrading from Amanda Enterprise 3.6 to 4.1.2.8   Please refer Migration Page for detailed steps.

Upgrade paths: 

Customers shall follow the below upgrade paths depending on their current Zmanda version.

4.1.0.106 4.1.0.106 -> 4.1.2.8
4.1.0.18 4.1.0.18 -> 4.1.2.8
3.6 3.6 -> 4.1.2.8
Fresh Install 4.1.2.8

 

 

 

 

Upgrading ZMC and Backup Server from 4.1.0.106 to 4.1.2.8 

      1.    Set Auto label to “Only if empty or I/O error” on Backup Where page (Applicable only for Tape backup sets) 

      2.    Uninstall the 4.1.0.106 Backup Server and ZMC binaries on both RPM and Debian based systems using the         commands, 

                     #/opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-backup-pkg/uninstall
                     # /opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-zmc-pkg/uninstall 

      3.    Copy 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries on to respective servers and give executable permissions. 

                     #chmod +x zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run
                     #chmod +x zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run 

      4.    Install the 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries by running them with superuser permissions.  

                     #./zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run
                     #./zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run 

Note:  

      1.    Before uninstalling 4.1.0.106, it is mandatory to update auto label option to “Only if empty or I/O error” for all        the Tape backup sets. 

      2.    It is mandatory to upgrade both Backup Server and ZMC. 

 

Upgrading ZMC and Backup Server from 4.1.0.18 to 4.1.2.8 

      1.    Set Auto label to “Only if empty or I/O error” on Backup Where page (Applicable only for Tape backup sets) 

      2.    Uninstall the 4.1.0.18 Backup Server and ZMC binaries on both RPM and Debian based systems using the         commands, 

                     #/opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-backup-pkg/uninstall
                     # /opt/zmanda/amanda/zmanda-zmc-pkg/uninstall 

      3.    Copy 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries on to respective servers and give executable permissions. 

                     #chmod +x zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run
                     #chmod +x zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run 

      4.    Install the 4.1.2.8 ZMC and backup server binaries by running them with superuser permissions.  

                     #./zmanda-zmc-4.1.2.8-x64.run
                     #./zmanda-backup-server-4.1.2.8-x64.run 

Note:  

      1.    Before uninstalling 4.1.0.18, it is mandatory to update auto label option to “Only if empty or I/O error” for all        the Tape backup sets. 

      2.    It is mandatory to upgrade both Backup Server and ZMC. 

 

Upgrading from Amanda Enterprise 3.6 to 4.1.2.8
