Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.4 release provides support for new platforms and bug fixes for critical issues reported by Amanda Enterprise Windows Client customers. Upgrade to this release from Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.x is mandatory.
It is important to read Amanda 3.0 release notes which features are part of 3.0 release. All 3.0 release features are included in Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.4. Zmanda Windows Client features are described in ZWC 3.0 manual.
Compatibility with previous versions of Windows Client
- Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.4 replaces Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.x and is compatible with Amanda 3.0.x backup sets and backup images.
Installation procedure
Note: Amanda backup or restoration should not be in progress during the client installation
- Download the Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.4 from Zmanda Network Downloads page (Zmanda network login is required) depending on the Windows client architecture (32bit or 64bit) and Windows server/desktop configuration.
- Copy the client to the Windows machine.
- Run the setup.exe from the Zmanda Windows Client 3.0.4 zip archive.
List of changes
- Support for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server R2 releases. File system and System State backup and recovery can be performed for these platforms.
- All Zmanda Windows Client encrypted backups stored the keys in the default container. With this release, the keys are stored in the Zmanda key container.
- SQL server verification failed in some configurations. This issue has been fixed.
- MS Exchange backups failed with storage group was a junction point. This issue has been fixed.
- The backup size estimation was not accurate resulting in backup retries. This issue has been fixed.
- The backups of Windows client used to fail with too many failures message. This was incorrect in some circumstances. It has been fixed.
